Chris Harris (rugby union)
Chris Harris (born 16 October 1990) is a Scottish international rugby union player who plays centre for Gloucester.
Early Life and Career:
Harris was born in Carlisle, England, but qualifies for Scotland through his maternal grandmother, who was born in Edinburgh. He played club rugby for Currock, Penrith and Tynedale before moving to Newcastle Falcons in 2014.
Professional Career:
Harris joined Newcastle Falcons and established himself as a key player, known for his strong defensive capabilities and direct running style. He was a consistent performer for the Falcons before moving to Gloucester in 2019. At Gloucester, he has continued to be a valuable member of the squad.
International Career:
Harris made his debut for Scotland in the 2017 Six Nations Championship against Wales. Since then, he has become a regular in the Scotland squad, featuring in subsequent Six Nations campaigns and Rugby World Cups. He is noted for his defensive work rate and his ability to create opportunities for his teammates. He was selected for the British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa in 2021.
