USS Hull (DD-7)

The USS Hull (DD-7) was a Bainbridge-class destroyer in the United States Navy. Named for Commodore Isaac Hull, a hero of the War of 1812, she was one of the first destroyers commissioned by the U.S. Navy.

Hull was launched in 1902 and commissioned in 1903. She served primarily in the Atlantic, participating in training exercises and fleet maneuvers. In the early years of her service, destroyers like Hull played a crucial role in developing tactics and procedures for torpedo warfare.

During World War I, the USS Hull performed patrol and escort duties, primarily along the U.S. East Coast and in the Caribbean. She aided in the protection of Allied shipping from German U-boats. She did not engage in any significant combat actions.

Following the end of World War I, the USS Hull was decommissioned in 1919 and subsequently sold for scrap. Her service life, though relatively short, marked an important era in the development of the U.S. Navy's destroyer force. She is remembered as a representative of the early generation of U.S. Navy destroyers.
