Estadio Maracaná (Panama)
The Estadio Maracaná, officially known as the Estadio Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez II, is a multi-purpose stadium located in Panama City, Panama. It is primarily used for football (soccer) matches. While its nickname "Maracaná" is reminiscent of the famous Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Panamanian stadium is a distinct entity and much smaller in scale.
The stadium is named in honor of Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez, a celebrated Panamanian footballer who died in a car accident in 1993. It serves as one of the primary venues for both domestic league matches and international games involving the Panamanian national football team. The stadium has undergone renovations and improvements over the years to meet FIFA standards for international competitions. It is owned and operated by the Panamanian government. The capacity is approximately 32,000.
