Twelfth Night (1955 film)
Twelfth Night (1955 film) is a Soviet adaptation of William Shakespeare's play Twelfth Night, or What You Will. The film was directed by Yan Frid and produced by Lenfilm Studios.
The adaptation generally follows the plot of Shakespeare's comedy, revolving around the separated twins Viola and Sebastian who are shipwrecked on the coast of Illyria. Viola, disguised as a man named Cesario, enters the service of Duke Orsino and finds herself caught in a love triangle involving Orsino and the Countess Olivia. Meanwhile, comic subplots involving Sir Toby Belch, Sir Andrew Aguecheek, and Malvolio provide further entertainment.
