Coatbridge and Chryston (UK Parliament constituency)

Coatbridge and Chryston is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2015 by Steven Bonnar of the Scottish National Party (SNP). It covers the towns of Coatbridge and Chryston in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, as well as surrounding villages.

The constituency was created in 2005, largely replacing the former Coatbridge and Bellshill constituency. It is considered a working-class area, with a history of strong support for the Labour Party. However, the SNP has gained significant ground in recent elections.

The boundaries of the constituency are defined by the electoral wards within North Lanarkshire Council. Specifically, it includes wards covering areas such as Coatbridge North, Coatbridge South, Glenboig, Moodiesburn, and Chryston.

Prior to Steven Bonnar's election, the seat was held by Tom Clarke (Labour) from 2005 to 2015. The constituency's political history reflects the broader trends in Scottish politics, with a shift away from Labour dominance towards the SNP in recent years.
