7th Sea (collectible card game)
The 7th Sea Collectible Card Game (CCG) was a collectible card game published by Alderac Entertainment Group (AEG) in 1999, based on their role-playing game 7th Sea. The CCG, like its RPG counterpart, was set in a fantasy version of 17th century Europe, known as Théah.
Gameplay involved players building decks representing noble houses, pirate crews, or other factions within Théah, and then using cards to engage in duels, intrigues, and sea battles. The goal typically revolved around achieving victory conditions outlined on a specific "Hero" card. Cards represented characters, ships, events, and items used to gain advantages in the game.
The 7th Sea CCG was known for its swashbuckling theme, evocative artwork, and a gameplay system that attempted to emulate the dramatic action of the role-playing game. However, it suffered from a relatively short lifespan, ceasing production after a few expansions. Despite its discontinuation, the game maintains a small cult following among CCG enthusiasts and fans of the 7th Sea RPG.
