Dong Hong

Dong Hong (Chinese: 董宏; pinyin: Dǒng Hóng; born November 1953) is a former Chinese politician and anti-corruption official. He served as a deputy head of the Central Inspection Work Leading Group Office and a member of the Standing Committee of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).

Born in Wuhai, Inner Mongolia, Dong Hong joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1983. He is a graduate of Renmin University of China. He held various positions within the CPC structure before becoming involved in anti-corruption work.

Dong Hong was known for his close association with Wang Qishan, a prominent figure in China's anti-corruption campaign under Xi Jinping. He worked alongside Wang in various capacities, including during Wang's tenure as the Party Secretary of Beijing and later when Wang led the CCDI.

In 2020, Dong Hong was placed under investigation by the CCDI for suspected "serious violations of discipline and law," a common euphemism for corruption. He was subsequently expelled from the CPC and removed from his public office. In 2021, he was formally arrested and prosecuted on charges of bribery. He was later convicted of accepting bribes totaling over 460 million yuan (approximately $70 million USD) and sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve.
