Rod Allen
Rod Allen (born November 29, 1959) is an American former professional baseball player and television color commentator.
Allen played professional baseball as an outfielder from 1981 to 1992. He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 19th round of the 1981 Major League Baseball draft. He played in the minor leagues for various teams, including the Lakeland Tigers, Birmingham Barons, and Toledo Mud Hens. He did not play in Major League Baseball.
Following his playing career, Allen became a color commentator for the Detroit Tigers on Fox Sports Detroit (later Bally Sports Detroit). He worked alongside play-by-play announcers George Kell, Ernie Harwell, and Mario Impemba. He was known for his enthusiasm and catchphrases, such as "And that's a Tiger Winner!" He was also involved in youth baseball programs.
Allen's broadcast career with the Tigers ended in 2019.
