Ed Jacobs (baseball)
Ed Jacobs (born November 27, 1955) is a former professional baseball player. Jacobs was a corner infielder in Major League Baseball during the 1980 season, playing for the Detroit Tigers. He was primarily a third baseman, though he did appear in some games at first base. He was a switch hitter and threw right-handed.
Jacobs was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 23rd round of the 1976 Major League Baseball Draft. He played in 20 games for the Tigers, accumulating 37 plate appearances. He recorded 6 hits, including 2 doubles, and drove in 4 runs. He scored 2 runs and walked once. His batting average for the season was .171, with a .194 on-base percentage and a .229 slugging percentage.
Before reaching the majors, Jacobs played several seasons in the minor leagues within the Detroit Tigers organization. Following his brief stint in MLB, he continued to play in the minor leagues, spending time with various teams.
