Tony Franklin (Australian footballer)

Tony Franklin (born 28 November 1957) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club and the Sydney Swans in the Victorian Football League (VFL).

Franklin, a rover and forward pocket player, was recruited from Chelsea Heights. He debuted for Collingwood in 1977 and played 111 games for the club over eight seasons. Known for his pace and tackling ability, Franklin was a consistent performer for Collingwood, contributing regularly to their scoring efforts.

In 1985, he transferred to the Sydney Swans, where he played 26 games over two seasons before retiring from VFL football. After his VFL career, Franklin continued to be involved in football, holding coaching positions at lower levels.
