(418993) 2009 MS9

(418993) 2009 MS9 is a trans-Neptunian object (TNO). It is a minor planet located in the outer Solar System. Designated with the provisional designation 2009 MS9, it was discovered on June 19, 2009, by astronomers with the Mauna Kea Observatories during a survey using the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT).

While the object's precise orbital characteristics continue to be refined through ongoing observations, it is understood to be orbiting in a region beyond Neptune. Its orbit is characterized by parameters that classify it as a TNO, but more precise classification (e.g., as a classical Kuiper belt object, a scattered-disk object, or a detached object) requires further data and analysis of its orbital elements.

Like many TNOs, (418993) 2009 MS9 is relatively faint, owing to its great distance from the Sun and its presumably small size. This makes it challenging to observe and study. Information about its physical properties, such as its size, shape, albedo (reflectivity), and composition, is limited due to the difficulty of obtaining high-resolution observations at such distances. More detailed observations and future missions to the outer Solar System could potentially shed further light on the nature of (418993) 2009 MS9 and its place within the broader context of the Kuiper Belt and other TNO populations.
