Rasenia

Rasenia is a historical and somewhat poetic name for Etruria, the ancient region of Italy corresponding roughly to modern Tuscany, western Umbria, and northern Latium. The term derives from Rasna, the name the Etruscans used for themselves. "Rasenia" is therefore an exonym, a name given to the region and its people by outsiders based on the Etruscans' autonym.

The term "Rasenia" is relatively uncommon in modern scholarly contexts, where "Etruria" or "Etruscan" are the standard terms. However, it occasionally appears in historical fiction, poetry, and works attempting to evoke a romanticized or ancient feel. Its use can signal an emphasis on the Etruscans' own perspective and cultural identity. The term is rarely used in formal archaeological or historical publications except when specifically discussing the etymology of the word "Etruria" itself. It carries a connotation of being somewhat archaic and deliberately evocative of a past civilization.
