Time Exposure (Stanley Clarke album)
Time Exposure is a studio album by American jazz fusion bassist Stanley Clarke, released in 1984 on Epic Records. The album represents a shift towards a more pop-oriented and commercially accessible sound for Clarke, departing from some of his earlier, more complex jazz fusion works.
The album features a prominent use of synthesizers, drum machines, and vocals, with Clarke himself handling many of the vocal performances. It includes collaborations with notable musicians such as Jeff Lorber, David Sanborn, and Stewart Copeland.
While Time Exposure did achieve some commercial success, reaching number 39 on the Billboard 200 chart, it also received mixed reviews from critics. Some praised Clarke's musicianship and the album's overall production value, while others criticized its reliance on pop conventions and its perceived departure from Clarke's jazz roots. The album spawned the singles "Project: S.O.S." and "Heaven Sent," which received moderate airplay.
