HMS Caroline (1795)
HMS Caroline was a 38-gun fifth-rate frigate of the Royal Navy, launched in 1795. She was built at Deptford Dockyard to a design by Sir John Henslow. During her service, Caroline participated in various naval actions of the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.
She saw action in the West Indies, where she captured numerous privateers and enemy vessels. Notably, in 1798, under the command of Captain Charles Fremantle, she participated in the capture of Trinidad.
Later, Caroline served in the Mediterranean and saw action against French forces. She was involved in several engagements, including actions against French shore batteries and enemy shipping.
In 1809, while under the command of Captain Peter Rainier, she was involved in operations in the East Indies. She participated in the capture of Amboyna in 1810.
Caroline continued to serve in the Royal Navy after the end of the Napoleonic Wars. She was eventually broken up in 1815.
