Robert Stevens (priest)
Robert Stevens (1691 – 1736) was an English cleric and academic. He served as the Master of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge from 1726 until his death.
Stevens was born in Damarham, Wiltshire. He was educated at Salisbury Cathedral School and Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, matriculating in 1708, graduating B.A. in 1711, M.A. in 1714, and D.D. in 1726. He was elected a Fellow of Sidney Sussex in 1717.
He was ordained in the Church of England and became a chaplain to the Duke of Kingston. In 1726, he was elected Master of Sidney Sussex, succeeding Samuel Adams. He held the Mastership until his death in 1736. During his tenure, he oversaw some improvements to the college buildings. He was also the Vicar of Foxton, Cambridgeshire, from 1728.
His will provided for scholarships at Sidney Sussex College to benefit students from Salisbury Cathedral School. He is buried in the chapel of Sidney Sussex College.
