184th (2nd South Midland) Brigade

The 184th (2nd South Midland) Brigade was a territorial infantry brigade of the British Army, formed as part of the Territorial Force (later Territorial Army) in 1908. It was initially composed of battalions from the South Midland Division.

During World War I, the brigade served with distinction on the Western Front. It was mobilized in August 1914 and saw action in numerous major battles, including the Battle of Loos, the Battle of the Somme, the Battle of Passchendaele, and the German Spring Offensive of 1918. Throughout the war, the brigade underwent changes in its composition as battalions were transferred in and out to meet operational needs.

After the war, the Territorial Force was reconstituted, and the 184th Brigade was reformed. It continued to exist as a part of the Territorial Army between the wars.

During World War II, the brigade was again mobilized and saw service in various roles, although it was not deployed overseas as a single brigade formation. Elements of the brigade served in different units and capacities throughout the war.

Following the end of World War II, the Territorial Army underwent significant restructuring, and the 184th Brigade was eventually disbanded.
