Findochty
Findochty is a village in Moray, Scotland. It is located on the Moray Firth coast, about 3 miles east of Buckie. Historically a fishing village, Findochty's economy was largely based on the herring fishing industry. The harbour, originally built in 1823, was expanded in the late 19th century. Today, while fishing remains a presence, tourism and leisure activities are increasingly important to the local economy. Findochty is known for its scenic coastal walks and views of the Moray Firth. The village boasts a golf course and various local amenities, including shops and restaurants. The name "Findochty" is believed to be of Gaelic origin, possibly derived from "Fionn-achadh," meaning "white field."
