Thutmose (18th-dynasty vizier)

Thutmose served as vizier during the reign of either Amenhotep III or Amenhotep IV (Akhenaten) of the 18th Dynasty of Egypt. His precise dating is debated among Egyptologists. He is primarily known from his Theban tomb, TT42, which contains detailed depictions of his duties and the various officials under his purview. The tomb provides valuable insight into the administrative structure and daily life of the late 18th Dynasty. His titles included "Mayor of Thebes," "Vizier," and "Overseer of All the Works of the King." He was responsible for overseeing construction projects, managing the state's resources, and acting as the chief administrator of Upper Egypt. The scenes within his tomb depict activities such as receiving tribute, inspecting granaries, and overseeing the work of craftsmen. His tomb also includes religious scenes and offering rituals. He is not to be confused with the several pharaohs named Thutmose.
