HMS Taku

HMS Taku was a British T-class submarine of the Royal Navy, launched in 1939 and commissioned in 1940. She was built by Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Company, Greenock.

Taku served extensively in the Second World War, primarily in the Mediterranean Sea. She was involved in numerous patrols and attacks against enemy shipping, including Axis convoys supplying North Africa. Taku is credited with sinking or damaging several enemy vessels, including Italian submarines, merchant ships, and warships.

Notable actions included the sinking of the Italian submarine Gino in March 1942. She also participated in Operation Torch, the Allied landings in North Africa in November 1942.

After the war, Taku remained in service with the Royal Navy, participating in exercises and fleet reviews. She was eventually decommissioned in 1951 and scrapped.

Taku earned several battle honours for her wartime service, recognizing her participation in key campaigns and operations. She is remembered as a successful and effective submarine of the Second World War.
