Thomas Weaver (painter)

Thomas Weaver (fl. 1796–1843) was a British painter, primarily known for his animal and sporting paintings. He was active in Shropshire and exhibited at the Royal Academy, the British Institution, and the Suffolk Street Gallery in London.

Weaver's subjects mainly encompassed portraits of prize livestock, particularly cattle, sheep, and horses, often commissioned by their owners to document their breeding stock. He also painted hunting scenes and portraits of people.

His artistic style is characterized by its meticulous detail and accurate depiction of animal anatomy. He captured the characteristics of different breeds with great skill, appealing to the agricultural interests of his patrons. While not considered among the most celebrated artists of his time, his work provides valuable insight into the livestock of the period and the agricultural practices of Georgian and early Victorian England. His paintings are found in private collections and museums.
