HMS Fareham (J89)

HMS Fareham (J89) was a Hunt-class minesweeper of the Royal Navy. She was of the third subgroup of the class, and saw service during the Second World War. Fareham was laid down on 12 December 1940 by John Brown & Company, Clydebank, launched on 17 October 1941, and commissioned on 21 February 1942.

During her wartime service, Fareham primarily operated in the North Sea and English Channel, involved in convoy escort and minesweeping duties. Notably, she participated in Operation Neptune, the naval component of the Normandy landings in June 1944, clearing mines to create safe passage for the invasion fleet.

Following the war, HMS Fareham was eventually decommissioned and sold for scrap on 28 August 1946.
