Tammy (film series)

The Tammy film series is a collection of American comedy films based on the character of Tammy Tyree, a naive but good-hearted young woman from the Mississippi Delta. The character was created by Cid Ricketts Sumner in her 1948 novel, Tammy Out of Time.

The film series consists of:

• Tammy and the Bachelor (1957), starring Debbie Reynolds as Tammy
• Tammy Tell Me True (1961), starring Sandra Dee as Tammy
• Tammy and the Doctor (1963), starring Sandra Dee as Tammy
• Tammy and the Millionaire (1967), starring Debbie Watson as Tammy (This film was later re-edited into the premiere episode of the Tammy television series.)

While the films share the same central character, played by different actresses, they are not strictly sequential in terms of plot continuity. They typically feature Tammy's adventures and misadventures in romance and various work settings. The Tammy films were popular for their wholesome, lighthearted entertainment and showcased American values of the time.
