Tōtara River (Buller District)

The Tōtara River is a river located in the Buller District of the West Coast region of New Zealand's South Island. It flows generally northwest from the Paparoa Range, emptying into the Tasman Sea. The river is relatively short and known for its clear waters and surrounding native bush. Gold mining activity occurred in the area historically, leaving some remnants along the river's course. The river is also used for recreational activities such as fishing and kayaking. Access to the river is typically gained via roads connecting to State Highway 6.
