Pat Raftery (footballer)
Pat Raftery is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Fitzroy Football Club and the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL).
Raftery, a key defender, was recruited from Northern Territory club Nightcliff. He made his debut for Fitzroy in 1987. He quickly established himself as a regular in the Fitzroy side, known for his strong marking and spoiling abilities.
Following Fitzroy's relocation to Brisbane at the end of the 1996 season, Raftery was delisted. He was subsequently picked up by the Sydney Swans in the 1997 pre-season draft. He played for the Swans for two seasons before retiring from AFL football at the end of the 1998 season.
After his AFL career, Raftery returned to the Northern Territory and continued to be involved in football.
