George Washington Carver High School (Kinder, Louisiana)
George Washington Carver High School was a historically Black high school located in Kinder, Allen Parish, Louisiana. Established during the era of racial segregation in the United States, it served the African American community of Kinder and the surrounding areas.
The school provided secondary education to Black students in Allen Parish at a time when they were excluded from attending the parish's white schools. Its curriculum typically included academic subjects such as English, mathematics, science, and history, as well as vocational training designed to prepare students for employment opportunities available to them at the time.
Following the desegregation of public schools in Louisiana, George Washington Carver High School was eventually closed. Its students were integrated into the formerly all-white schools in Allen Parish. The exact date of its closure and subsequent disposition of the school building would require further research. Many alumni of Carver High School continue to celebrate their shared history and the educational foundation they received there.
