Cycle (magazine)

Cycle was a popular American bicycling magazine published from 1950 until 1987. Originally titled Light Weight Cycling, it was renamed Cycle in 1960 to reflect a broader appeal to a growing segment of the cycling population.

Cycle magazine distinguished itself through comprehensive bicycle reviews, technical articles on bicycle maintenance and repair, touring narratives, and race coverage. It catered to both recreational and competitive cyclists, providing information on a wide range of bicycles, components, and cycling accessories. Its content often leaned towards a more technically detailed approach than some other cycling publications of the time.

The magazine was highly influential in the growth of cycling in the United States during its period of publication. It helped educate cyclists about the technology and techniques necessary for enjoying the sport, and played a role in popularizing bicycle touring and racing. Cycle’s in-depth product reviews, particularly of emerging technologies and European bicycle components, gave it a respected voice within the cycling industry. The publication ceased printing in 1987.
