Switched (band)

Switched was an American nu metal band formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1999. The band's sound incorporated elements of rap metal, alternative metal, and hard rock.

History:

Switched was formed by vocalist T.J. Blair, guitarists B.C. Kochmit and Mike Bradic, bassist Ethan Carpenter, and drummer Chad Szeliga. They quickly gained a following in the Cleveland area, known for their energetic live performances. In 2001, the band signed with Immortal Records, a subsidiary of Epic Records.

In 2001, Switched released their debut album, Subject to Change, produced by Mudrock. The album spawned two singles, "Runaway" and "Inside," both of which received radio airplay and helped the band gain national exposure. Switched toured extensively in support of Subject to Change, sharing the stage with bands such as Papa Roach, Adema, and Saliva.

Despite their initial success, Switched struggled to maintain momentum. Following lineup changes and creative differences, the band was dropped from Immortal Records. They continued to perform and record independently for a period but eventually disbanded in the mid-2000s.

Musical Style and Influences:

Switched's music was characterized by aggressive guitar riffs, heavy rhythms, and T.J. Blair's blend of rapping and melodic vocals. Their lyrics often dealt with themes of anger, frustration, and personal struggle. The band cited influences such as Rage Against the Machine, Korn, and Deftones.
