Swingtown
Swingtown was an American period drama television series that aired on CBS in the summer of 2008. The series is set in the summer of 1976, in a suburb of Chicago, and revolves around the lives of several families exploring the sexual and social liberation of the 1970s, particularly the phenomenon of swinging or partner swapping.
The show focuses primarily on the Miller and Decker families, who are new to the neighborhood. Their move initiates their exposure to the more liberal lifestyles of their new neighbors, the Thompson and Davis couples, who are already actively engaged in open marriage and recreational drug use.
"Swingtown" explored themes of marital infidelity, changing social mores, sexual exploration, the generation gap, and the cultural impact of the 1970s. The series attempted to portray the era with historical accuracy, including costumes, music, and social attitudes.
Despite generating significant controversy and discussion regarding its explicit content, the show was ultimately cancelled after one season due to low ratings.
