Willi Geiger (judge)

Willi Geiger (born 20 April 1909 in Nuremberg, died 14 September 1994 in Karlsruhe) was a German jurist who served as a judge on the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany (Bundesverfassungsgericht) from 1969 to 1981.

Geiger studied law and economics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, completing his doctorate in 1932. He then entered the Bavarian judicial service. During the Nazi era, he joined the SA and the NSDAP. After World War II, he was initially dismissed from the judicial service but was later reinstated.

He became a judge at the Bavarian Administrative Court and later at the Federal Administrative Court (Bundesverwaltungsgericht) in Berlin. In 1969, he was appointed to the Federal Constitutional Court, where he served as a member of the First Senate until his retirement in 1981.

Geiger's tenure on the Federal Constitutional Court was marked by his expertise in administrative law and his contributions to landmark decisions on issues such as environmental protection and the rights of conscientious objectors. He was known for his meticulous and thorough legal analysis.
