The Pro (comics)
The Pro is a satirical superhero comic book limited series created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Amanda Conner. It was originally published by Image Comics in 2002. The comic book tells the story of a foul-mouthed, overweight prostitute who gains superpowers after being exposed to alien technology. She is then recruited into a team of more conventional superheroes, much to their dismay, and must learn to work with them while keeping her past a secret. The series is known for its vulgar humor, excessive violence, and deconstruction of superhero tropes. It explores themes of class, prejudice, and the hypocrisy often found within the superhero genre. The Pro received positive reviews for its satire and original take on superhero conventions, though some criticized its gratuitous content. It has been reprinted in various collected editions.
