Pownal (CDP), Vermont
The Pownal Census Designated Place (CDP) is a statistical area delineated by the United States Census Bureau encompassing the primary settlement in the town of Pownal, Bennington County, Vermont. A CDP is a concentration of population defined for statistical purposes only and is not a legally incorporated entity. The Pownal CDP includes the village center and surrounding residential areas. As such, it represents the most densely populated part of the larger town of Pownal. Data regarding population, demographics, and housing characteristics are collected and reported separately for the CDP during each decennial census. The CDP boundaries are generally defined to coincide with locally recognized community boundaries but can be adjusted from census to census. The CDP's data is used for a variety of planning and analysis purposes at the local, regional, and national levels.
