Swanee (singer)

Swanee is the stage name of Australian rock and soul singer John Archangelo Swan (born 24 March 1952).

Swanee began his musical career in the early 1970s. He is best known for his 1982 hit single "If I Were a Carpenter", a cover of the Tim Hardin song, which peaked at number 5 on the Australian charts. He also achieved success with the singles "Temporary Heartache" and "Lady What's Your Name".

Prior to his solo career, Swanee was a member of several bands, including Fraternity (which also featured Bon Scott, later of AC/DC). He has released numerous albums throughout his career, spanning various genres including rock, blues, and soul.

He is the older brother of Australian singer Jimmy Barnes, although they did not meet until adulthood. Swanee has toured extensively throughout Australia and has maintained a successful career spanning several decades. His powerful vocals and energetic stage presence have made him a popular figure in the Australian music scene. He continues to perform and record music.
