Sturgis Municipal Airport (South Dakota)
Sturgis Municipal Airport (FAA LID: 49B) is a public use airport located three nautical miles (6 km) southwest of the central business district of Sturgis, a city in Meade County, South Dakota, United States. It is owned by the City of Sturgis.
The airport primarily serves general aviation traffic. While it sees increased traffic during the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, it is not a major commercial airport and lacks scheduled passenger service.
Facilities at Sturgis Municipal Airport include a single asphalt runway, designated 17/35, which measures 4,200 by 75 feet (1,280 x 23 m). The airport also has tie-down facilities and offers fuel services. There is a small terminal building providing basic amenities for pilots and passengers.
The airport's relatively short runway length restricts operations to smaller aircraft. Larger commercial airliners typically use Rapid City Regional Airport (RAP), located approximately 35 miles (56 km) to the southeast.
