Strange (TV series)
Strange is a British television drama series produced by the BBC and screened on BBC One in 2002 and 2003. It stars Richard Coyle as John Strange, an ex-priest who investigates paranormal and supernatural occurrences for a shadowy organisation.
The series focuses on Strange's efforts to protect the world from demonic and other otherworldly threats, often working with a team of specialists who possess unique skills and knowledge. These include: Jude Atkins (Samantha Womack), a former soldier haunted by her past; Kevin (Andrew-Lee Potts), a resourceful tech expert; and Canon Dimarco (Ian Richardson), a senior member of the organization Strange works for.
The show's premise blends elements of horror, thriller, and science fiction. Each episode typically features a self-contained narrative centered on a specific supernatural threat, while also exploring Strange's personal struggles with faith and his troubled past.
Despite its potential and a dedicated fanbase, Strange was cancelled after only one series consisting of six episodes and a pilot episode. Reasons for the cancellation were attributed to budget constraints and creative differences. However, the series has retained a cult following and is available on DVD and streaming platforms.
