Plessey

Plessey was a major British electronics, telecommunications, and aerospace company. Founded in 1917 as a small engineering firm, it grew significantly throughout the 20th century to become a multinational conglomerate. Plessey was involved in a wide range of activities including the production of electronic components, telecommunications equipment, defense systems, and avionics.

Key areas of operation for Plessey included:

• Telecommunications: Plessey was a major supplier of telephone exchange equipment and other telecommunications infrastructure. They played a significant role in the development of the UK's telephone network.

• Defense: Plessey developed and manufactured a variety of defense-related products, including radar systems, sonar equipment, and electronic warfare systems. They were a key supplier to the British military and other international defense forces.
