Edward Hastings (died 1437)

Edward Hastings was an English nobleman who died in 1437. He was the son of Sir John Hastings and Anne, daughter of Edward, Lord Despenser. He inherited the barony of Hastings upon the death of his father.

Hastings was involved in various commissions and held positions of responsibility during his lifetime. He is known to have been involved in legal disputes and property transactions, typical for a man of his status in 15th-century England.

His son, also named John Hastings, predeceased him, leading to a complex inheritance dispute. Upon Edward's death in 1437, the barony of Hastings fell into abeyance between his daughters, Anne, Eleanor, and Elizabeth. The abeyance was eventually terminated in favor of Sir Edward Hungerford, a descendant of Margaret Hastings, who was the daughter of the 1st Earl of Pembroke and Elizabeth Hastings. This termination occurred in 1461.

His death triggered legal and inheritance complexities that are still relevant in genealogical and historical research concerning the Hastings family.
