Souled Out (1998)

Souled Out was the debut studio album by American R&B singer Jhené Aiko, released on September 2, 2014, by Def Jam Recordings and ARTium Recordings. While initially conceived and worked on for several years following Aiko's mixtape Sailing Souls (2011) and her debut EP Sail Out (2013), Souled Out showcases a blend of contemporary R&B, neo soul, and alternative R&B.

The album explores themes of love, loss, spirituality, and self-discovery. It is characterized by Aiko's signature ethereal vocals and introspective lyrics, often delivered in a calm, almost whispered style. Production on the album was handled primarily by Dot da Genius, No I.D., Key Wane, and Fisticuffs, among others.

Souled Out features guest appearances from Common, Cocaine 80s, and her daughter Namiko Love Browner. It received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised Aiko's songwriting, vocal performance, and the album's overall atmosphere. Commercially, it debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200 chart.
