Les Bird
Les Bird (born December 14, 1952) is a retired Australian rules footballer who played for the South Melbourne Football Club and the Sydney Swans in the Victorian Football League (VFL).
Bird was a talented rover and wingman, known for his pace and tenacity. He played 150 games for South Melbourne/Sydney, kicking 89 goals. He was a prominent player during the club's relocation from Melbourne to Sydney in 1982, serving as a vital link between the club's past and its future in a new city.
Following his VFL/AFL career, Bird remained involved in football, contributing to various media outlets and community programs. He is remembered as a dedicated player who gave his all to the club, both on and off the field.
