Moiseev (crater)

Moiseev is a lunar impact crater that is located on the far side of the Moon, beyond the zone that is ever visible from the Earth. It lies to the northeast of the prominent crater Hertzsprung, and northwest of the crater Vening Meinesz.

This is a worn and eroded crater formation. Several small craters lie along the rim, and the inner walls are marked by terraces. The interior is somewhat uneven, with a few tiny craterlets marking the surface. The overall shape of the crater is roughly circular.

Moiseev is named for Russian mathematician and celestial mechanician Nikolai Dmitrievich Moiseev.
