Jan Koops
Jan Koops (born c. 1945) is a Dutch football manager. While he achieved some success in the Netherlands early in his career, he is primarily known for his extensive managerial career in Indonesia, particularly with PSM Makassar.
Koops began his coaching career in the Netherlands, managing several clubs at amateur and professional levels. However, it was his move to Indonesia that defined his career. He arrived in the 1990s and quickly adapted to Indonesian football culture.
He is best remembered for his multiple stints as head coach of PSM Makassar, one of Indonesia's most popular football clubs. He led PSM Makassar to several notable achievements, including becoming a consistent contender in the Indonesian top flight league and a runner-up finish in the Indonesian League in 1995/1996. Koops was known for his tactical acumen, his ability to motivate players, and his understanding of the local football landscape.
Beyond PSM Makassar, Koops also managed several other Indonesian clubs, further solidifying his reputation within Indonesian football.
