Bill McCreary (referee)

Bill McCreary is a retired National Hockey League (NHL) referee. He was one of the most respected and experienced officials in the league, working over 1,700 regular season games and over 300 playoff games. McCreary wore jersey number 7.

His career spanned from 1984 to 2011. During his time as an NHL referee, McCreary officiated 14 Stanley Cup Finals games. He was known for his calm demeanor, his strong command of the ice, and his ability to communicate effectively with players and coaches. He was also known for his dedication to upholding the rules of the game and maintaining a high standard of officiating.

McCreary was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2014 in the referee/linesman category, recognizing his significant contributions to the sport. Following his retirement from on-ice officiating, McCreary took on roles in officiating supervision and development, continuing to contribute to the NHL.
