StarCom21
StarCom21 is a statewide digital trunked radio system used by public safety agencies in the state of Ohio, United States. It is a 700/800 MHz Project 25 (P25) compliant system.
The system provides interoperable communication capabilities for various agencies including state troopers, local law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical services, and other governmental entities. This interoperability allows different agencies to communicate with each other during emergencies and planned events, regardless of their primary radio systems.
StarCom21 is managed by the Ohio Department of Administrative Services (DAS) and provides secure and reliable voice and data communications. The system has been designed for redundancy to ensure continued operation during widespread incidents. It supports encryption to protect sensitive communications.
The system continues to evolve, with ongoing upgrades and expansions to enhance its capabilities and coverage area. This includes adding new sites and features to meet the changing needs of Ohio's public safety community.
