Spanish destroyer Ariete (D-36)
The Ariete (D-36) was a Fletcher-class destroyer that served in the Spanish Navy from 1957 to 1974. Originally built for the United States Navy during World War II as the USS Healy (DD-672), she was transferred to Spain under the Mutual Defense Assistance Program.
As USS Healy, she was commissioned in 1943 and saw extensive service in the Pacific Theater, participating in numerous battles and campaigns. She earned several battle stars for her service.
Upon transfer to Spain, she was renamed Ariete (D-36) and became part of the Spanish destroyer fleet. She underwent modernization programs during her service with the Spanish Navy, including updates to her radar and sonar systems. Ariete participated in various naval exercises and patrols in the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
She was decommissioned from the Spanish Navy in 1974.
