Idelʹson (crater)

Idelʹson is a lunar impact crater that is located on the far side of the Moon. It lies to the east-southeast of the prominent crater Freundlich, and southwest of the Mare Ingenii.

The rim of Idelʹson is moderately eroded, with several small craters lying along the edge. The inner walls display some terracing, particularly along the western side. The interior floor is relatively level, with a few small craters scattered across the surface. A small, somewhat elongated central peak is located near the midpoint of the crater.

The crater is named after the Soviet astronomer Naum Il'ich Idel'son. It was officially adopted by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in 1970.
