Jack Bailey (Maryland politician)
Jack Bailey is an American politician from Maryland. A Republican, he served as a member of the Maryland State Senate representing District 29, which includes St. Mary's and Calvert counties, from 2019 to 2023.
Prior to his service in the State Senate, Bailey worked as a waterman and small business owner. He defeated incumbent Senator Steve Waugh in the 2018 Republican primary and subsequently won the general election.
During his term in the Senate, Bailey served on the Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committee. His legislative priorities included advocating for lower taxes, supporting small businesses, and protecting the Chesapeake Bay. He sponsored and co-sponsored legislation related to these issues.
Bailey lost his bid for re-election in 2022 to Democrat Sarah Elfreth. Following his term, he returned to private life. His political views are generally considered conservative.
