Giorgio Anselmi (astrologer)
Giorgio Anselmi (fl. late 15th century) was an Italian astrologer, philosopher, and mathematician. He is primarily known for his work on judicial astrology and his interpretations of astrological events. Details regarding his birth and death dates are scarce, but he was active in Parma during the latter part of the 15th century.
Anselmi's writings focused on using astrology to predict future events, particularly those impacting rulers and states. He authored treatises that analyzed celestial movements and configurations, attempting to link them to terrestrial happenings such as wars, plagues, and political changes. His approach involved combining classical astrological principles with contemporary observations.
While Anselmi's work was respected by some within the intellectual circles of his time, it also faced criticism, as astrological predictions were often met with skepticism. His legacy lies primarily in his documented astrological interpretations and his contribution to the intellectual discourse surrounding astrology during the Renaissance.
He is sometimes referred to as Georgius Anselmus Parmensis.
