Scream (TV series)

Scream is an American anthology slasher television series that aired on MTV for two seasons (2015-2016) and on VH1 for a third, rebranded season (2019). Developed by Jill Blotevogel, Dan Dworkin, and Jay Beattie, it is based on the Scream film series created by Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven.

The first two seasons follow a group of teenagers in the fictional town of Lakewood, who become the target of a new masked killer. The killings are triggered by a cyberbullying incident that stirs up the town's dark past, specifically a series of murders committed twenty years prior by Brandon James. The series explores themes of identity, social media, and the legacy of violence. Notable cast members from the first two seasons include Willa Fitzgerald, Bex Taylor-Klaus, John Karna, Amadeus Serafini, and Carlson Young.

The third season, subtitled Resurrection, features a completely new cast, storyline, and setting. It focuses on Deion Elliot, a star football player who is haunted by his troubled past, and a new Ghostface killer who begins terrorizing him and his friends. This season aimed for a darker and more horror-focused tone compared to the previous seasons and featured the original Ghostface mask. Cast members for Resurrection include RJ Cyler, Jessica Sula, Keke Palmer, and Tyler Posey.

The Scream television series, while sharing the title and some thematic elements with the film franchise, is considered a separate continuity. Despite initial popularity, the series faced declining viewership, ultimately leading to its cancellation after the third season.
