Shamsul Haque (general)
Shamsul Haque (born 1 January 1940, date of death unknown) was a Bangladeshi Major General of the Bangladesh Army.
Haque was a key figure in the early stages of the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. As a major stationed in Jessore at the time, he played a crucial role in organizing resistance against the Pakistani military after the crackdown on 25 March. He is credited with rallying troops and local populations in the southwestern region of Bangladesh. He played a significant part in securing early victories for the Mukti Bahini in the area.
Following Bangladesh's independence, Haque continued to serve in the Bangladesh Army, eventually rising to the rank of Major General. He held various important staff and command positions throughout his career. His contributions during the Liberation War were later officially recognized, although detailed biographical information about his post-independence career and personal life remains scarce in readily accessible sources. His date of death is currently unconfirmed.
