Senso '45

Senso '45 is a 2002 Italian historical drama film directed by Tinto Brass. It is a remake of Luchino Visconti's 1954 film Senso and is loosely based on the novella Senso by Camillo Boito.

The film tells the story of Livia Serpieri, an Italian countess, who becomes embroiled in a passionate and destructive affair with Helmut, a Nazi SS officer, during the final days of World War II in Italy. The story is set against the backdrop of the political and social turmoil of the collapsing fascist regime and the advance of Allied forces. Unlike Visconti's version, Senso '45 is known for its explicit sexuality and graphic depictions of violence. It explores themes of lust, betrayal, decadence, and the moral decay of a society consumed by war. The film deviates significantly from the source material and Visconti's adaptation in its portrayal of the characters and events.
