Richard Smallwood (footballer)
Richard Smallwood (born 29 December 1990) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Bradford City.
Career
Smallwood began his career with Middlesbrough, progressing through their academy ranks. He made his professional debut for Middlesbrough in 2010. During his time at Middlesbrough, he also had loan spells at Hartlepool United and Rotherham United.
In January 2014, Smallwood joined Rotherham United permanently. He played a key role in the club's promotion to the Championship and remained a consistent presence in the team for several seasons.
Following his departure from Rotherham United, Smallwood signed for Blackburn Rovers in August 2017. He subsequently joined Hull City in 2020.
In July 2022, Smallwood moved to Bradford City.
Playing Style
Smallwood is primarily a defensive midfielder, known for his tackling, work rate, and ability to break up opposition attacks. He is a combative player with a strong presence in midfield.
